Recently, it has been released the publication of the Cyprus Synodic Office of Pilgrimage Tours and of the Cyprus Tourism Organization (CTO) called “Easter in Cyprus”. In the 24 pages’ content of the elegant and excellent small guide, it is mainly covered the most impressive and solemn period, in regard to the hymnology and the sacred services, of the ecclesiastical year.
Thus, through the texts that are dedicated to each day, the relevant hymns and the pictures, we will march together with Jesus Christ from Saturday of Lazarus until Easter Sunday, two great feasts that attest the common resurrection of the mankind during the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, the abolition of death and the opening of our path to Paradise. Between the two feasts we will participate at the Triumphant Entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, we will hear His last homilies, we will participate at the Last Supper and the Holy Passions and will reach the Easter Sunday, during which “we celebrate the death’s necrosis, the dissolution of Hades”, i.e. the opening of the road to mankind’s salvation.
Noteworthy is the description of different customs of this period that are performed either inside the church’s area or not, like the different kinds of crullers and flaounas.
Even though this small guide was prepared in order to serve the pilgrimage tours and the religious tourism, however, the information’s richness interests every Christian in regard to both soteriology and comprehension of the divine services. In addition there is a calendar until the Pentecost Sunday.
Congratulations to the publishers and to all those who worked hard in order to publish this small guide.
