Ο Θεοφιλέστατος Ἐπίσκοπος Μεσαορίας κ. Γρηγόριος ἐγεννήθη ἐν Λάρνακι Λαπήθου τῆς Ἐπαρχίας Κυρηνείας τὴν 25ην Φεβρουαρίου 1968. Εἶναι πτυχιοῦχος τῆς Θεολογικῆς Σχολῆς τοῦ Πανεπιστηµίου Ἀθηνῶν (1990). Παρηκολούθησε µεταπτυχιακὰς σπουδὰς εἰς τὸ University of Birmingham καὶ εἰς τὸ Selly Oak College, Ἀγγλίας (1994), καὶ εἰς τὸ Πανεπιστήµιον Ἀθηνῶν (1996).
Εἶναι διπλωµατοῦχος τοῦ Πανεπιστηµίου Ἀθηνῶν εἰς θέµατα Πατρολογίας, κατόπιν δηµοσίας ὑποστηρίξεως Εἰδικῆς Μελέτης αὐτοῦ μὲ θέμα «Ἡ δοµὴ καὶ ἡ ἑρµηνευτικὴ στοὺς Λόγους “Eἰς τοὺς Μακαρισµοὺς” τοῦ Ἁγίου Γρηγορίου Νύσσης».
Εἶναι Διδάκτωρ τῆς Φιλοσοφικῆς Σχολῆς τοῦ Ἀριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης, κατόπιν δημοσίας ὑποστηρίξεως Διδακτορικῆς Διατριβῆς μὲ θέμα «Ἐπιφανίου Κύπρου “Πανάριον”. Ἔρευνα ἐπὶ τῶν πηγῶν τοῦ ἔργου».
Εἰδικεύθη, ἐπίσης, εἰς θέµατα: α) Μεθοδολογίας, Ἱστορίας καὶ Θεωρίας τῆς Ἐπιστήµης εἰς τὸ Πανεπιστήµιον Ἀθηνῶν (1996-2000), β) Παλαιογραφίας καὶ Ἐπιγραφικῆς εἰς τὸ Μορφωτικὸν Ἵδρυµα τῆς Ἐθνικῆς Τραπέζης, εἰς Ἀθήνας (1988-91), γ) «Τρόπων ἀντιµετωπίσεως τοῦ Οἰκολογικοῦ προβλήµατος ἀπὸ µέρους τῆς Ἐκκλησίας» εἰς τὸ Ὀρθόδοξον Κέντρον τοῦ Οἰκουµενικοῦ Πατριαρχείου, εἰς Γενεύην (1992), καὶ δ) Πληροφορικῆς, μὲ εἰδικὸν ἀντικείµενον: «Ἡ πληροφορικὴ στὸ χῶρο τῆς Θεολογίας καὶ τῆς Ἐκκλησίας», εἰς τὸ Πανεπιστήµιον Ἀθηνῶν (1993).
Εἰργάσθη ὡς ἐπιστηµονικὸς συνεργάτης εἰς τὸν Τοµέα Πατερικῶν Σπουδῶν τῆς Θεολογικῆς Σχολῆς τοῦ Πανεπιστηµίου Ἀθηνῶν (1989-2000).
Προσέφερεν ὑπηρεσίας εἰς τὸ κατηχητικὸν ἔργον τῆς Ἱερᾶς Ἀρχιεπισκοπῆς Ἀθηνῶν καὶ εἶχε τὴν εὐθύνην τῆς διευθύνσεως τῆς Φοιτητικῆς Ἑστίας τῆς Ἱερᾶς Μητροπόλεως Ἠλείας, εἰς Ἀθήνας (1992-2000).
Ἀπὸ τοῦ 1992 εἶχεν ἀνατεθῆ εἰς αὐτόν, ὑπὸ τοῦ ἀειµνήστου Ἀρχιεπισκόπου Κύπρου κυροῦ Χρυσοστόµου Α΄, τὸ ἔργον τοῦ λαϊκοῦ Ἱεροκήρυκος τῆς Ἱερᾶς Ἀρχιεπισκοπῆς Κύπρου. Ἐχειροτονήθη ∆ιάκονος τὴν 6ην Μαΐου 2001 καὶ Πρεσβύτερος τὴν 24ην Μαρτίου 2002, ἐχειροθετήθη δὲ Ἀρχιµανδρίτης καὶ Πνευµατικὸς τὴν 20ὴν Ἰουλίου 2004.
‘Υπηρέτησεν ὡς Καθηγητὴς Μέσης Ἐκπαιδεύσεως (2001-2008). Ἐντὸς τοῦ πλαισίου τῶν µαθηµάτων αὐτοῦ, ἀνέλαβε τὴν πρωτοβουλίαν καὶ διωργάνωσε, ὁµοῦ μετὰ τῶν µαθητῶν αὐτοῦ, ἕνδεκα Ἡµερίδας «ὡς βιωµατικὰ ἐργαστήρια».
Ἐδίδαξε ὡς ἐξωτερικὸς Λέκτωρ εἰς τὴν Ἀστυνομικὴν Ἀκαδημίαν Κύπρου μὲ θέμα τῶν διαλέξεων «Ἡ Ἠθικὴ στὴ σύγχρονη κοινωνία καὶ τὸ λειτούργημα τοῦ ἀστυνομικοῦ». Ἐπίσης, συνεργάζεται μὲ τὸ Παιδαγωγικὸν Ἰνστιτοῦτον Κύπρου εἰς τὰ ἐκπαιδευτικὰ προγράμματα μὲ γενικὸν θέμα «Ἡ Παράδοση τῆς Κύπρου μέσα ἀπὸ τὴ ζωὴ τῶν ἀνθρώπων της», καθὼς καὶ εἰς τὰ προγράμματα τῶν Ὁμογενῶν Ἐκπαιδευτικῶν.
Συμμετέχει εἰς Ἐπιτροπὰς διὰ τὴν ὀργάνωσιν ἐπιστηµονικῶν Συνεδρίων εἰς τὴν Κύπρον, τὴν Ἑλλάδα καὶ εἰς τὸ ἐξωτερικὸν καὶ λαµβάνει µέρος εἰς Θεολογικὰ καὶ Βυζαντινολογικὰ Συνέδρια, ἐνίοτε καὶ μὲ ἐπιστηµονικὰς ἀνακοινώσεις.
Μελέται καὶ ἄρθρα αὐτοῦ ἔχουν δημοσιευθῇ εἰς Συλλογικοὺς Τόµους καὶ εἰς Ἐπιστηµονικὰ Περιοδικὰ. Ἐξεπροσώπησε τὴν Ἐκκλησίαν τῆς Κύπρου εἰς τὸ ἐσωτερικὸν καὶ εἰς τὸ ἐξωτερικόν, εἰς τὴν Δ΄ Πανορθόδοξον Διάσκεψιν (Γενεύη, Ἰούνιος 2009), εἰς διορθοδόξους καὶ διαχριστιανικὲς συναντήσεις καὶ εἰς διεθνῆ ἐπιστηµονικὰ συνέδρια.
Ἡ Ἱερὰ Σύνοδος τῆς Ἁγιωτάτης Ἐκκλησίας τῆς Κύπρου ἐξέλεξε τοῦτον Ἐπίσκοπον (μὴ ἐπαρχιοῦχον) τῆς Ἱερᾶς Ἀρχιεπισκοπῆς, ὑπὸ τὸν τίτλον τοῦ Ἐπισκόπου Μεσαορίας, τὴν 21ην Μαρτίου 2008. Ἡ χειροτονία αὐτοῦ ἔγινεν ὑπὸ τοῦ ἀειµνήστου Ἀρχιεπισκόπου Κύπρου κυροῦ Χρυσοστόµου Β΄, εἰς τὸν Ἱερὸν Ναὸν Παναγίας Παλλουριωτίσσης Λευκωσίας, τὴν 30ὴν Μαρτίου 2008.
Ἔχει τὴν διεύθυνσιν τῶν Συνοδικῶν Γραφείων: α) Διεκκλησιαστικῶν Σχέσεων, β) Ἐνημερώσεως καὶ Ἐπικοινωνίας καὶ γ) Προσκυνηματικῶν Περιηγήσεων τῆς Ἐκκλησίας τῆς Κύπρου. Ἀπὸ τὸ 2008 τοῦ ἔχει ἀνατεθεῖ ὑπὸ τῆς Α.Μ. τοῦ Ἀρχιεπισκόπου Κύπρου κ.κ. Χρυσοστόμου Β´ ἡ ἀνασύστασις καὶ προεδρία τῶν Ἐκκλησιαστικῶν Ἐπιτροπῶν τῶν ἐνοριῶν καὶ κοινοτήτων τῆς κατεχόμενης Ἀρχιεπισκοπικῆς Περιφερείας (Διαμερίσματος Μεσαορίας).

His Grace Gregorios, Bishop of Mesaoria, was born on February 25, 1968. His origin is from Larnaca Lapithou, district of Kyrenia.
He graduated from the Theological Faculty of the University of Athens in 1990 and pursued his post-graduate studies at the University of Birmingham at Selly Oak College, England (1994) and the University of Athens (1996).
He holds a diploma of the University of Athens in Patrology, after defending in public a special dissertation entitled: “The Structure and Interpretation of the works “On The Beatitudes” by Saint Gregorios of Nyssa”.
He is Doctor of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, after defending in public his Doctoral Thesis entitled “The «Panarion» of Epiphanius of Cyprus. Research on the work’s sources”.
He specialized in the following subjects: a) Methodology, History and Theory of Science at the University of Athens (1996-2000); b) Paleography and Epigraphy at the Educational Foundation of the National Bank of Greece (1988-1991); c) “Ways of confronting the Ecological Problem by the Church at the Orthodox Centre of the Ecumenical Patriarchate (Geneva 1992); d) “Computer Science in Theology and Church” at the University of Athens (1993).
He was a scientific collaborator, in Patristic Studies, of the Theological Faculty of the University of Athens (1989-2000).
He offered his services to the task of catechism of the Archbishopric of Athens and was in charge of the Students’ Home of the Metropolis of Elia in Athens (1992-2000).
As of 1992 he was assigned to serve as Preacher of the Holy Archbishopric by Archbishop Chrysostomos I. On May 6, 2001 he was ordained Deacon, on March 24, 2002 Presbyter and on July 20, 2004 he was given the title of Archimandrite and was proclaimed a Confessor.
Since 2001 until 2008, he taught in the Secondary School Education. Within the scope of his activities he took the initiative and organized, with his students, eleven whole-day meetings as ‘experience gaining’ workshops.
He taught as an external Lecturer at the Cyprus Police Academy on the topic of “Ethics in modern society and the Function of the Police”. In addition, he collaborated with the Cyprus Institute of Education on educational programs about “The Tradition of Cyprus in the life of its People”, as well as on the educational program of Homogeneous Teachers.
He participates in Committees for the Organization of Scientific Conferences in Cyprus, Greece and abroad and participates in Theological and Byzantine Conferences, sometimes with scientific announcements.
Essays and articles by him were published in Collective Volumes and Scientific Magazines. He represented the Church of Cyprus, both inland and abroad, at the 4th Pan-Orthodox Conference, in Champesy in Geneva on June 2009, at Interorthodox and Interchristian meetings and international scientific conferences.
On March 21, 2008 he was elected by the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus, as Bishop (not eparchial) of the Holy Archbishopric under the title of His Grace Bishop of Mesaoria. He was consecrated on March 30, 2008 by his Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Cyprus, at the Church of Panaghia of Pallouriotissa in Nicosia.
He currently administrated the following Synodical Offices: a) Interchurch Relations, b) Information and Communication and c) Pilgrimage Tours of the Church of Cyprus. Since 2008 he was appointed by H.B. the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II to reconstitute the Ecclesiastical Committees of the parishes and communities that belong to the occupied Archbishopric Region. He is currently the President of those Ecclesiastical Committees.
